UOSSM USA Continues Fundraising Campaign to Support Hospitals in Gaza

The recent airstrikes in Gaza have wreaked significant damage upon local hospitals and clinics. These facilities – already struggling under the surge of COVID-19 cases – must now deal with the fallout of these attacks that resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties– including 105 Palestinian women and children, and 2 physicians.

Many ambulances were ruined in the crossfire, preventing the critical transportation of patients in their time of greatest need. Basic medicine and supplies were also destroyed, leaving many victims without lifesaving treatment.

Our ultimate goal is to raise $300,000 to provide medical aid to hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine. You can help replenish the shortage of medicines and medical equipment resulting from those attacks, and ensure continuation of healthcare provision to those in need of medical care. UOSSM Launches Project to Strengthen Referral System and Referral Data Management Unit in Northern Syria

UOSSM launched a new project aiming to strengthen the Referral System and Referral Data Management Unit (RDMU), especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.The primary objective of the project is to maintain the functionality of the referral system by providing fuel to 60 ambulances within the central referral system in northern Syria. The project will help strengthen the Referral Data Management Unit (RDMU), which is one of the main units in the Health Information System (HIS), to ensure the sustainability and quality of health services.

In addition, the project will operate four vehicles to transport patients in need of non-emergency medical consultations or patients who have been referred between healthcare facilities across different healthcare levels for further medical examinations or treatment.

UOSSM Delegates Visit Gaziantep Governor in Turkey

Representatives of the UOSSM office in Turkey visited the governor of Gaziantep, Mr. Rızvan EROĞLU, and presented a glimpse of services provided by UOSSM inside Syria and in areas under Turkish administration.

In addition, they discussed the potential risks of not renewing the decision to enter aid across the border, and the need to coordinate with all parties to facilitate work.

UOSSM Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Idlib Health Directorate

UOSSM signed a general memorandum of understanding with the Idlib Health Directorate to coordinate with UOSSM supported healthcare facilities, and to define roles and responsibilities which will help ensure the best quality provision of healthcare to families in northwest Syria.

UOSSM Supports Advanced Secondary Healthcare Services in Northwest Syria

UOSSM will support advanced secondary health services in northwestern and eastern Syria by providing urinary tract diagnostic and rehabilitation services in Sarmada, and improve the health of patients in Tal Abyad by providing renal dialysis services. The renal dialysis services include diagnostic services for urinary disorders such as Urodynamic Test, ultrasound, cystoscopy, and therapeutic services such as small and large urinary surgeries

Impact Story- Mal Al Sham

When Mal Al-Sham was only four months old, she was suffering from severe malnutrition, she was weak and did not have the energy a young baby at that age usually has. She was hospitalized and provided with treatment and advice on how to improve her health status.

Three months later, Mal Al-Sham’s mother was still concerned with her baby’s health and took her to the UOSSM Areeha Primary Health Care Center. After tests, screenings, and evaluation it was found that she was still suffering from moderate acute malnutrition.

Her doctor put her on a treatment plan with the nutrition clinic, and she was provided with nutritional supplements, along with educational materials about the importance of breastfeeding, and introducing nutritious food to babies. Her caregivers also worked with the mother to strengthen her milk supply so she could return to nursing her baby.

Periodic appointments were scheduled, and after a month of follow-up and treatment, we are happy to report that the baby girl improved and has made a full recovery. Mal al-Sham still visits the Areeha Center to ensure she remains healthy and does not become malnourished again. Thanks to supporters like you Mal Al-Sham and countless other children, have the chance at living a healthy childhood.
